Jeremy has had an intense off-season, but not in the way he normally has. Rather than racing on the road or mountain bike as he has in past years, he’s been busy at home, and in base training, coaching clinics, and supporting great charity rides.
“This summer has been different from others because of the birth of our first child, and I’ve been trying to be supportive of my wife, Emily,” he explains. “That, combined with trying to take a proper recovery and getting on top of nagging injuries and illnesses from the end of last season, has been my focus. I wanted to put them to bed and lay a strong base so I’m in a good place for the upcoming season. I want to be able to come into the season riding at the best of my ability.”
He’s also helped coach clinics and hosted talks and rides in Boston, Philadelphia, New York, and out at Sea Otter in Monterey, California:
Finn came along last month and added another member to the Powers household:
And charity rides like this one for Red Nose day, riding from Boston to NYC with fellow cyclocrosser Tim Johnson made for a fun off-season:
Coming up next, Jeremy is again hosting the Grand FUNdo for the JAM Fund in Western Massachusetts, and in August, he’ll be hosting a long weekend cyclocross camp and clinic (a few slots still available) in Massachusetts, and heading to Colorado for another weekend clinic. Then, racing with Aspire will kick off in early September at Rochester… Stay tuned for more details on the team!
